East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa led a trade and investment mission to Riau, securing total transaction commitments of IDR 1.066 trillion. The event, held at the Novotel Hotel in Pekanbaru, was attended by Riau Regional Secretary Syahrial Abdi and marked a significant increase from the IDR 362.1 billion recorded during the previous mission in 2020. Khofifah stated that the mission serves as a strategic instrument to match regional potential with market needs, expand business networks, and strengthen the national supply chain. She emphasised that the initiative aims to foster mutual growth by connecting regions with commodities to those requiring supplies, thereby shortening distribution chains and promoting domestic products. The transactions comprised IDR 704.88 billion in sales from East Java and IDR 361.15 billion in purchases from Riau. East Java supplied commodities such as processed poultry and beef, milk, chillies, shallots, fish feed, and cigarettes. In return, East Java procured strategic raw materials from Riau, including vaname shrimp, coconut shell charcoal, and pulp. Khofifah noted that East Java sources 99 per cent of its pulp needs from Riau, underscoring the complementary nature of the two provinces’ economies. The largest single transaction was a IDR 202.4 billion deal between PT Kharim Mandiri Indonesia and PT Unggas Riau Perkasa for processed meat and poultry products.
