Surabaya (ANTARA) - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa was inaugurated as the Coordinator of the Hajj Organising Officers (PPIH) for the Surabaya Embarkation for 1447 Hijriah/2026 by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, in Surabaya on Friday.
“Good service will reflect the quality of Hajj organisation in the homeland. Therefore, the image of the East Java Provincial Government rests on the shoulders of the Surabaya Embarkation PPIH. Dedicate every service lillahi ta’ala, insya Allah it will be rewarded with pahala,” said Governor Khofifah.
A total of 23 people were inaugurated as PPIH for the Surabaya Embarkation, tasked with providing guidance, services, and protection to pilgrims so they can perform the pilgrimage in accordance with syariah, while realising independence and resilience in Hajj organisation.
Khofifah stated that the number of pilgrims from the Surabaya Embarkation this year reaches 44,087 people, consisting of 43,623 pilgrims and 464 flight group (kloter) officers divided into 116 kloters.
The breakdown of the pilgrims comes from East Java with 42,409 people, Bali with 698 people, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) with 516 people.
She emphasised that this organisation demonstrates the great responsibility of the Surabaya Embarkation PPIH in serving pilgrims across provinces.
“If the PPIH service is good, then the government’s image is also good, and vice versa. So let us give our best dedication,” she added.
Khofifah stressed the importance of synergy and collaboration among all cross-sectoral officers, from service aspects, transportation, health, to security, so that the Hajj organisation runs orderly and smoothly.
“Bismillah, with Allah’s pleasure, may the entire series of the Hajj pilgrimage process this year run smoothly, full of blessings, and bring the pilgrims back to the homeland with the title of Hajj Mabrur,” she said.
After the inauguration, Khofifah along with the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia conducted a meal test or food suitability test for prospective Hajj pilgrims for the flight.
“Anticipation for food that might not like spicy has been anticipated, so there is separate seasoning or sambal prepared. So it can be adjusted to each person’s taste,” she said.
