Khofifah Emphasises Student Unity Towards Golden Indonesia

Surabaya (ANTARA) - The Governor of East Java, Khofifikasi Indar Parawansa, has emphasised the importance of unity among students of the Nusantara Student Dormitory (AMN) Surabaya as part of strengthening national character towards ‘Golden Indonesia 2045’.

“Through AMN, we hope to build mutual trust and mutual respect among everyone. In essence, we are assembling Indonesia through the intellectual approach of young people from Sabang to Merauke,” said Khofifah while attending the AMN Surabaya Symphony of Diversity, alongside the Inauguration of the 5th Batch of 2026 Students and the First Graduation of AMN Surabaya Scholarship Recipients in Surabaya on Saturday.

A total of 200 new students were inaugurated as AMN Surabaya scholarship recipients, distributed across Airlangga University (Unair), Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Surabaya State University (UNESA), and ‘Veteran’ National University of East Java (UPN Veteran Jatim).

Each university received 50 students. On the same occasion, 305 students from the first batch of AMN Surabaya participated in the inaugural graduation since the dormitory was officially inaugurated in 2022 by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

Khofifah stated that AMN Surabaya serves not only as a residence and provider of educational assistance but also as a space for students from various ethnicities, religions, regions, and backgrounds to build national understanding.

She reminded scholarship recipients to view the opportunity as a mandate that must be met through achievement and service to the community.

“For AMN scholarship recipients, do not view the scholarship merely as assistance. Rather, it is a mandate and a trust that must be answered with achievement and service. Together, we will continue to contribute to realising Golden Indonesia 2045,” she advised.

During the event, the inauguration of the AMN Surabaya Alumni Association (IKA) was also conducted by the Deputy Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Police Commissioner General (Ret.) Imam Sugianto.

“Wherever you may be in the future, be part of the agents of cohesion within society. When conflicts arise, AMN Surabaya alumni must be the first to resolve them,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Badri Munir Sukoco, reminded new students and graduates to continue learning and growing.

“Keep growing and learning. Become part of an Indonesia that is increasingly strong and characterised,” he said.
