Khofifah: East Java Tops SNBP Admissions for Seven Consecutive Years
Surabaya (ANTARA) - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa stated that her province has once again become the region with the highest number of students passing the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) for 2026, for seven consecutive years from 2019 to 2026.
“Alhamdulillah, East Java has the most SNBP passers for seven years in a row. This is very proud news that we must be grateful for,” Khofifah said in Surabaya on Wednesday.
According to Khofifah, East Java has been blessed with talented children. This achievement not only reflects the students’ accomplishments but also indicates that efforts to improve education quality are on the right track.
Based on official data from the National New Student Admission Selection (SNPMB) for 2026, 29,046 students from East Java were accepted into state universities (PTN) out of a total of 108,122 applicants, the highest nationally.
This achievement demonstrates the strong competitiveness of East Java’s students at the national level, while also serving as an indicator of improving human resource quality in the region.
She added that the mapping strategies implemented by schools, from opportunity analysis and programme study competitiveness levels to student ranking, have been key factors in increasing SNBP passing chances.
Furthermore, East Java was recorded as the province with the highest number of admissions through the Indonesia Smart Card for Higher Education (KIP-K) route. Out of 40,213 applicants, 8,915 students were accepted.
According to Khofifah, the KIP-K programme expands access to higher education for underprivileged students so they can continue their studies without financial constraints, while also promoting equitable human resource development across regions.
She also encouraged students who did not pass SNBP to remain motivated, as the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) route and independent admissions at each state university are still available.
