Khofifah dispatches 4,000 East Java residents for free Lebaran homecoming in 2026
Surabaya - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa dispatched 4,000 residents in the free Lebaran homecoming programme for 1447 Hijriah in Surabaya on Thursday, while also receiving a national record award for building the most railway crossing gates.
“On behalf of the East Java Provincial Government, we congratulate all homecoming participants. May this journey mark the beginning of happiness, strengthen family ties, and bring blessings to you all,” Khofifah stated.
The East Java Provincial Government’s free homecoming programme is a continuous effort to reduce traffic density, lower accident rates, and alleviate transportation cost burdens for the public ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
In 2026, the East Java Provincial Government provided various modes of transport, including buses, motorcycle-carrying trucks, and sea vessels for passengers and two-wheeled vehicles.
Specifically for buses, 158 non-economy fleet units were prepared, consisting of 58 inter-provincial AKAP buses that had transported 2,230 homecomers from Jakarta on 18 March 2026, as well as 100 intra-provincial AKDP buses for 20 routes in East Java.
“Thank you. This is part of the public services we aim to maximise to provide a sense of safety and comfort for East Java residents,” she said.
It was conveyed that the departure of homecomers from Jakarta to East Java had previously been handled by the Head of the Transportation Agency, involving 2,230 East Java residents.
