Khofifah Disburses BLT DBHCHT to 901 Cigarette Factory Workers Across Regions

East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa disbursed Rp901 million in BLT DBHCHT funds to 901 cigarette factory workers across regions in Bojonegoro Regency. “Through the BLT DBHCHT, the government demonstrates tangible support for workers in the tobacco industry sector, particularly cigarette factory workers across regions whose contributions are vital to sustaining the tobacco industry and local economy,” said Khofifah. The aid distribution took place at PT Kareb Alam Sejahtera Mitra Produksi Sigaret (MPS) Dander, Ngumpak Village, Bojonegoro Regency. A total of 901 recipients each received Rp1 million. Khofifah was enthusiastically welcomed by thousands of cigarette factory workers, who dubbed her the ‘Mother of Hand-Rolled Cigarette Workers’ (SKT). Khofifah stated that the tobacco industry is a key pillar of the regional economy, necessitating targeted and sustainable social protection programs to ensure workers’ welfare. She urged recipients to use the aid wisely to meet family needs and strengthen household economic resilience. Khofifah added that East Java Province’s total social assistance budget for 2026 amounts to Rp171.27 billion. Specifically for Bojonegoro Regency, social assistance allocations total Rp6.99 billion for cigarette factory workers and the broader community. The 2026 BLT DBHCHT programme targets 10,324 cigarette factory workers across 25 districts/cities in 65 companies, with a total budget of Rp10.324 billion. “Workers’ contributions are crucial in driving the regional economy. Therefore, attention to their welfare must be prioritised to achieve inclusive development,” she said. During the event, Khofifah also inaugurated the Nur Khofifah Mosque, built by PT Kareb Alam Sejahtera for workers’ use. Bojonegoro Regent Setyo Wahono urged beneficiaries to use the BLT wisely and productively to support community economic growth. “I urge the public to use the BLT for productive purposes,” Setyo reminded. PT Kareb Alam Sejahtera Director Sahari applauded the BLT DBHCHT disbursement, deeming it beneficial for cigarette factory workers. “We are all happy today as everyone received the BLT DBHCHT. May this continue and bring blessings to Bojonegoro’s community,” Sahari said.
