KH Marsudi Ready to Uphold Seven Directives from Senior Kiai Issued in Lirboyo, Kediri
Senior Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figure and candidate for PBNU chairman, KH Marsudi Syuhud, has firmly stated his readiness to implement and fully safeguard the seven directives issued by senior NU kiai during a meeting at Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School, Kediri.
Kiai Marsudi assessed that the moral call born in Lirboyo represents a deep-seated concern as well as an effort to save the organisation and its jam’iyyah from the threat of moral decay.
Kiai Marsudi stressed the importance of having the courage to begin internal reform within NU without further delay.
“The seven directives from the senior kiai must be implemented at this congress. Because if we do not start now, when else? If we are not the ones to do it, who else will?” said Kiai Marsudi in a statement in Jombang, Saturday (29/8/2026).
He added that the call or proclamation from the Lirboyo Masyayikh reflects genuine concern over the dynamics within PBNU to date.
“This is a form of the Masyayikh’s unease. Do not let the senior kiai weep seeing the current condition of PBNU. May this become a sacred weapon to save NU and its jam’iyyah,” he continued.
As a form of safeguarding the mandate of the senior kiai, KH Marsudi Syuhud emphasised the importance for all muktamirin (congress participants) to understand and firmly uphold the seven points of the call from Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School:
Halting politicisation and political transactions: Stop all forms of manipulation, engineering, and money politics practices in the congress proceedings.
Rejection of external intervention: Firmly reject outside forces attempting to intervene in or hijack the agenda of the 35th NU Congress.
