Keys to economic revival
Keys to economic revival
The most important keys to reviving the economy are stability in politics and security. This has not been achieved by the government of President Abdurrahman Wahid. A number of regions are still in turmoil.
The government should guarantee security and legal certainty for whoever does business in Indonesia. It is fortunate that not all foreigners see Indonesia as an area in perpetual trouble. Singapore, for instance, has admitted to adopting the wrong perception of Indonesia. Now they consider the security situation to be sufficiently conducive for investment.
For the government, there is no choice but to do all it can to establish a secure condition in Indonesia. No less important, the authorities should speak with one voice in regard to government policies, so that the public, buyers and investors no longer need to be confused about this nation's condition.
