Key Facts on the Arrest of Two Killers of a Joxzin Member in Bantul

Two suspects in the killing of a Joxzin member in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul, have been arrested by police. The arrests were made in the Sedayu sub-district on Thursday morning (5 March 2026). Public Relations Chief Iptu Rita Hidayanto of Bantul Police said that after investigations including witness interviews and CCTV analysis, police had identified the suspects. ‘At around 04:00 WIB, the Bantul Police Mobile Crime Unit together with the Opsnal Jatanras Team of the DIY Regional Police and the Sedayu Police Criminal Investigation Unit succeeded in securing the suspects in Sedayu,’ Rita told reporters in Bantul on Thursday (5 March 2026).

The two suspects, identified as SS (29) and FS (22), are residents of Kapanewon Gamping, Sleman. ‘SS is the executor and has been named a suspect. FS is the joki who accompanied SS, and FS is currently being questioned,’ Rita said. Regarding the evidence, she said it is still being sought. Both are currently in custody at Bantul Police for further questioning. ‘And the suspects have been detained,’ she added.

Separately, Rita corrected the victim’s initials from TYR (36) to KYR, in reference to Kitin Yogatama Rustamaji. Reports had previously indicated the victim’s initials as TYR.

Police described how the two murder suspects were captured. After conducting investigations including witness interviews and CCTV analysis, the suspects were asked to come to Sedayu Police Station. Rita said the duo did not attempt to flee; they arrived at around 04:00 WIB and, once there, police interrogated them and they admitted to the act. ‘They were cooperative and, after questioning, admitted their actions,’ she said.

Rita also emphasised that the two did not surrender themselves; they came in response to the police summons, as police already had their identities and home addresses on record. ‘So it wasn’t a case of self-surrender,’ she noted.

The victim was killed at his home in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul, on Wednesday (25 February) at 05:30 WIB. At the time, the victim was sleeping with his wife and child. The two suspects, who wore masks, attacked him, and the wife was wounded while defending herself; their five-year-old son did not sustain injuries. After the stabbing, the two suspects fled the scene, leaving KYR’s house.
