Key Facts in Cilacap Regent Arrest Operation: Extortion of Regional Apparatus for Eid Allowance
Jakarta, Kompas.com — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has formally designated Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman as a suspect in an alleged extortion case concerning demands for Eid holiday allowance (THR) for 2026 on Saturday, 14 March 2026.
In addition to the regent, the KPK has also designated Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono as a suspect in the case.
Both individuals were previously apprehended during a Sting Operation (OTT) on Friday, 13 March 2026.
The KPK stated that the operation was initiated following a public complaint.
Key facts in the alleged extortion case involving Cilacap Regent:
In the case construction, the KPK suspects that Syamsul Auliya Rachman allegedly threatened to transfer officials within the Cilacap Regency Government if they failed to provide holiday allowance funds in accordance with his demands.
The KPK stated that several officials from regional apparatus work units (SKPD) reported concerns that they would be transferred if they did not comply with the regent’s requests.
“Several witnesses, from the 13 department heads involved, stated that there was indeed concern that if the request from Syamsul was not fulfilled, they would be reassigned and so on,” said Asep.
Asep stated that according to witness testimony, regional officials who failed to provide funds as requested by Syamsul were considered disloyal to the regent’s orders.
The seven regional department heads in question are: Head of Public Works and Housing Department (PUPR) of Cilacap Regency, Wahyu; Head of Spatial Planning Division of Cilacap Regency, Rosalina; Head of Agricultural Department of Cilacap Regency, Sigit.
Additionally, Head of Education Department of Cilacap Regency, Paiman; Acting Director of Cilacap Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Hasanudin; Head of Irrigation Division of Cilacap Regency, Wahyu Indra; and Head of Water Resources Management Department (PSDA) of Cilacap Regency, Bambang.
