Today, Thursday (5 March), the Pati District Court in Central Java held a verdict hearing for two leaders of the Alliance of Pati Bersatu Community (AMPB): AMPB coordinator Supriyono, alias Botok Pati, and Teguh Istiyanto, in the case of blocking the Pantura road during the ousting of Pati Regent Sudewo. For the Botok Pati verdict, police deployed tight security with 1,300 personnel and erected barbed wire. Before the hearing, hundreds of AMPB members and supporters had gathered at the police post in front of the Pati District Court to guard the decision of the panel of judges. “We have deployed 1,300 officers drawn from several police precincts across Pati Raya to secure the conduct of the hearing,” said Jaka Wahyudi Kamus, Chief of Police of Pati City (5 March). The security at the Pati District Court, according to Jaka Wahyudi, was intended to maintain safety and the conduciveness of the proceedings, with the decision agenda for Supriyono alias Botok Pati and Teguh Istiyanto. In addition to the barbed-wire fencing, CCTV cameras were also added around the court. Retno Lastiani, spokesperson for the Pati District Court, said the hearing on the Pantura road-block case, with the verdict agenda for defendants Supriyono alias Botok Pati and Teguh Istiyanto, was held at 09:00 on Thursday (5 March) in the Cakra courtroom. In the Botok Pati verdict hearing, Retno Lastiani stated that PN Pati has arranged a live broadcast so that the public can access it. “We also guarantee the verdict will be free from any intervention, gratification, or bribery,” she added. At the verdict hearing for Botok Pati, several figures attended to guard the trial of the two leaders accused of toppling the Pati Regent Sudewo, including Inayah Wahid (daughter of the fourth Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid, Gus Dur), Tiyo Adrianto, Chairman of the UGM Student Executive Board, and former Deputy Chief of Police Komjen (Ret) Oegroseno, and legal practitioner Cak Soleh. The Pantura road-block case, with defendants the two leaders of AMPB Supriyono alias Botok and Teguh Istiyanto, the Panel of Judges of PN Pati on Thursday (5/2) sentenced six months in prison but were released and discharged from custody.
