The Regent and Deputy Regent of West Bandung, Jeje Ritchie Ismail and Asep Ismail, presented the results of their leadership during 2025 at the 19th anniversary celebration of West Bandung Regency (KBB). Despite having served just over a year, their programmes have begun to impact economic growth and basic services.

The anniversary ceremony at Plaza Mekarsari on Friday (19/6/2026) was conducted modestly in line with budget efficiency measures. According to Regent Jeje, this approach reflects the increasing maturity of the regency, which was originally formed from the division of Bandung Regency. ‘Naturally, at 19 years old, West Bandung Regency has come of age. So, we are not celebrating excessively,’ Jeje said after the ceremony. The event was also enlivened by a drum band performance from the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN).

Jeje stated that the regional government still provided entertainment for the public but did so by considering budget efficiency and seeking sponsors to avoid burdening regional finances. ‘We will provide public entertainment later. Naturally, we must budget only what is necessary. We will look for sponsors for events intended for the community,’ he said.

Jeje noted that several macro development indicators for West Bandung Regency had grown positively under his and Deputy Regent Asep Ismail’s leadership. Economic growth in 2025 was recorded at 5.28 percent. Additionally, the poverty rate fell to 9.87 percent, inflation remained under control at 2.13 percent, and the open unemployment rate decreased to 6.60 percent. The regional government also recorded an improvement in the Gini ratio to 0.364 and an increase in the Human Development Index (IPM) to 71.65 points.

In the infrastructure sector, the West Bandung Regency government has handled 36.858 kilometres of regency roads, with the proportion of roads in good condition exceeding the target at 78.80 percent. In basic services, the achievement of Minimum Service Standards (SPM) reached 98.50 percent. Regarding governance, West Bandung ranked 95th out of 416 regencies nationally based on regional governance evaluation results. The regency government also maintained an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) and showed improved results in the Monitoring Center for Prevention (MCP) assessment by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

‘Nevertheless, we understand that many residents still feel public services have not fully met expectations. There is still infrastructure that requires faster handling,’ Jeje stated. During the 19th anniversary celebration, Jeje also announced the ratification of a Regent Regulation on Islamic Boarding School Products. This regulation is part of the implementation of the regional vision in the religious sector, including support for the distribution of aid for Quranic teachers, Islamic boarding schools, and other religious programmes. ‘With the Islamic Boarding School Products Regent Regulation that we have long proposed, thank God the policy has been signed today,’ Jeje said.
