Coordinator of the Ketapang Crossing Port Service Unit, Banyuwangi, under the Class II East Java Land Transportation Management Agency, Bayu Kusumo Nugroho, explained that out of the 36 vessels in operation, several are implementing the arrive-unload-depart (TBB) pattern to expedite the dispersal of vehicle build-up at the port and on the arterial roads leading to it.

“Today, there are 36 vessels operating to serve users due to the very dense crossing traffic, including four-wheeled vehicles such as private cars and passenger buses heading to Bali Island via Ketapang Port,” he said at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, East Java, on Tuesday.

Bayu explained that several operating ferries are using the arrive-unload-depart (TBB) pattern, loading vehicles and passengers from Ketapang Port (Banyuwangi) to Gilimanuk Port (Bali), and after unloading, they return immediately without loading as an effort to speed up the reduction of vehicle queues at Ketapang Port.

Regarding the number of vessels applying the TBB pattern, he continued, it is adjusted according to needs or field conditions based on passenger density.

From observations, on H+9 of Eid al-Fitr 2026 or Tuesday (31/3), the queue of trucks was quite long, reaching about 10 kilometres from the arterial road in front of Ketapang Port.

Data from the Ketapang Port Eid Transportation Post over 24 hours (period 30 March 2026 from 00.00 to 23.59 WIB) or H+8, recorded 230 trips at Ketapang Port.
