The ferry operations across the Ketapang Port–Gilimanuk Port route in Bali will be temporarily suspended during Nyepi 2026 on Thursday, 19 March 2026.

Vessel operations at Ketapang will cease from Wednesday, 18 March 2026 at 5 p.m. WIB until Friday, 20 March 2026 at 6 a.m. WIB. Meanwhile, the suspension at Gilimanuk will run from 19 March at 5 a.m. Wita until 20 March at 6 a.m. Wita.

Director General of Land Transport, Aan Suhanan said the adjustment was made to honour the observance of Catur Brata Penyepian in Bali while anticipating the surge in mobility due to the proximity to the 2026 Lebaran transport period.

He added that the government has prepared several traffic management schemes around the ports, including optimisation of MB and LCM docks and implementation of a delaying system through buffer zones on toll and non-toll routes.

Additionally, the government has applied geofencing regulations with a radius of 2.65 kilometres from Ketapang and 2 kilometres from Gilimanuk to regulate vehicles heading to the ports during the closure period.

“We are committed to always prioritising the safety of service users. We continue to take anticipatory measures to ensure ferry services remain reliable,” said Heru.

The state-owned ferry operator ASDP has also increased the number of vessels operating on the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route from 28 to 32 units to strengthen service capacity during peak traffic periods.

The public is urged to plan their travel earlier to avoid congestion before operations close during Nyepi.
