Kerry, Son of Riza Chalid, Reportedly Boasted After Purchasing Merak Fuel Terminal
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The son of oil businessman Mohamad Riza Chalid, Muhamad Kerry Adrianto Riza, once boasted about the Merak fuel terminal (TBBM) to his uncle, Irawan Prakoso.
Irawan explained this when presented by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) as a witness in the continuation of the trial file for the case of PT Pertamina (Persero)’s Marketing and Trading Director for the period April 2012-2014, Hanung Budya Yuktyanta, and former VP of Supply and Distribution of PT Pertamina (Persero), Alfian Nasution.
“Yes, he was just proud, you know, ‘Uncle, this is mine now, I’ve bought (the fuel terminal).’ That’s it,” Irawan said during the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Tuesday (31/3/2026).
“What I know is only that the tank belongs to Kerry,” Irawan added.
When pressed by the prosecutor, Irawan repeatedly denied ever meeting with Alfian and Hanung to discuss the Merak fuel terminal.
“So, you never met with Mr Hanung or Mr Alfian regarding OTM? You were never asked to make an offer?” the prosecutor grilled.
“Never,” Irawan replied.
Under the new Criminal Code Article 291, anyone giving false testimony faces a prison sentence of 7 years.
“So, you are denying the meeting with Mr Hanung and Mr Alfian, right?” the prosecutor asked again.
“Yes,” Irawan answered.
In the trial on Monday (20/10/2025), the 2014 Marketing and Trading Director of PT Pertamina, Hanung Budya Yuktyanta, had given testimony.
Hanung, now a defendant in a separate case file, admitted to feeling pressured by Mohamad Riza Chalid’s side if he did not sign the fuel terminal agreement. This was stated in Hanung’s examination record (BAP) read by the JPU.
“If I do not sign the OE or HTS approval, the direct winner designation of PT Oiltanking Merak and the signing of the fuel receipt, storage, and delivery services agreement with PT Oiltanking Merak, I will be removed due to pressure from Mohamad Riza Chalid,” said prosecutor Triyana Setia Putra during the trial at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday (20/10/2025).
