JAKARTA – Muhamad Kerry Adrianto Riza, beneficial owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak (PT OTM) and PT Jenggala Maritim Nusantara (PT JMN), has stated that he will appeal following his conviction to 15 years imprisonment in a corruption case concerning the management of crude oil and refinery products for PT Pertamina (Persero).

The verdict was handed down by the Corruption Court judges at the Central Jakarta District Court on Friday, 27 February 2026.

“I will continue to seek justice,” Kerry stated following the court decision.

The judges imposed a prison sentence of 15 years and a fine of Rp1 billion, with an alternative of 190 days in custody in lieu of payment.

In their reasoning, the judges determined that the rental of the fuel terminal facility owned by PT OTM constituted unlawful conduct. The court found that the terminal was not a pressing necessity for PT Pertamina from the outset.

However, the terminal rental project was incorporated into Pertamina’s investment plans in 2014 following the involvement of Kerry’s father, Mohamad Riza Chalid.

The judges also ruled that the acquisition of three ships owned by Kerry constituted unlawful conduct as it failed to comply with applicable auction rules and procedures.

The three vessels in question were the VLGC, Suezmax Ridgebury, and MRGC Nashwan. The purchase of these ships took place when Kerry’s representatives were aware of Pertamina’s subsidiary’s need to lease vessels.

Even before the ships formally became assets of PT JMN, discussions regarding cooperation with Pertamina had commenced. At the same time, Kerry’s representatives applied for credit from Bank Mandiri to purchase the three vessels, which would subsequently be contracted to Pertamina.

For his conduct, Kerry was found to have violated Article 603 in conjunction with Article 20(c) of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption Offences, as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001.

The court has seized the following assets:

Land measuring 31,921 m² together with buildings thereon held under SHGB (Certificate of Right to Use and Build) No. 119 in the name of PT Orbit Terminal Merak in Cilegon City, Banten Province.

Land measuring 190,684 m² together with buildings and items of economic value thereon held under SHGB No. 32 in the name of PT Orbit Terminal Merak.

Funds from the management of PT Orbit Terminal Merak assets, including petrol stations, comprising an escrow account balance at Bank BSI account number 7321770187 as of 2 February 2026 valued at Rp139,302,342,735.
