Kerosene scarce in Bogor

BOGOR: Locals often complain about kerosene shortages in certain parts of the regency, but recent shortages have not been due to the poor distribution system. It was difficult to find kerosene last week because many traders had not returned from the annual Idul Fitri pilgrimage to their hometowns.

Chairman of the Bogor chapter of the Association of National Traders of Gas and Oil, Nur Supriadi, said Friday that many vendors had left Bogor to celebrate Idul Fitri with their families in their hometowns.

Kerosene was in short supply in West Bogor, Dermaga, Ciampea, Jasinga and Leuwiliang.

Supriadi said that there were about 50 kerosene suppliers with a capacity of 75,000 liters per day. A liter of kerosene sells for Rp 600.

The association said it would conduct a market operation with 10,000 liters of kerosene to overcome the problem. --JP
