Kepulauan Seribu Police Educate Students Through 'Godfather' Programme
The Kepulauan Seribu Police have visited several schools through the ‘Bapak Asuh’ programme. This step was taken to educate and shield students from the threats of fake news (hoaxes), bullying, and other forms of juvenile delinquency.
Kepulauan Seribu Police Chief, AKBP Argadija Putra, stated that the activity is not merely a social gathering between the police and schools, but a concrete effort to establish a police presence within the school environment. Through the ‘Bapak Asuh’ programme, police personnel are present to provide education and messages regarding public order and security (kamtibmas) to students.
Students are encouraged to be more critical when receiving information circulating on social media. They are reminded not to immediately believe or spread information whose veracity is unconfirmed.
Arga stated that the ‘Bapak Asuh Polri’ programme is a form of the National Police’s concern for the development of the younger generation. According to him, an approach to students must be conducted directly so that positive messages can be well-received.
“The Bapak Asuh Polri programme is a form of our care for the children in Kepulauan Seribu. We want the police to be present not only when problems occur, but also to provide education, motivation, and guidance to students,” said AKBP Argadija Putra on Thursday (17/09/2026).
Arga reminded students not to be easily influenced by information circulating on social media. He noted that the spread of hoaxes can cause misunderstandings and unrest if the information is immediately believed and forwarded to others.
“Do not easily believe information from unclear sources. Filter before sharing; check the truth of the information before spreading it,” he added.
In addition to hoaxes, the issue of bullying was also a focus of the activity. Students were asked to refrain from bullying, whether in person or through social media.
“Do not use differences, shortcomings, or a friend’s condition as material for mockery. Bullying can have a significant impact on victims. Let us respect one another, protect each other, and create a safe and comfortable school environment,” said the Police Chief.
Furthermore, the Police Chief urged students who experience or witness bullying not to be afraid to speak to teachers, parents, or the police. He noted that the courage to report is a vital step in preventing bullying from continuing.
During the event, Kepulauan Seribu Police personnel also introduced the 110 Police Service to the students. This service can be utilised by the public to submit reports or request police assistance.
“If you need police assistance or know of any disturbances to public order, do not hesitate to contact the 110 Police Service. We want children to know that the police are always present and ready to help,” he concluded.
