Kepulauan Seribu Police Chief Leads Patrol in Thousand Islands Waters
The Kepulauan Seribu Police Chief, AKBP Argadija Putra, led the ‘Jaga Jakarta On The Spot’ patrol activity in the waters of the Thousand Islands as an effort to strengthen public security and order (kamtibmas).
“The Jaga Jakarta On The Spot activity is a flagship programme of the Metro Jaya Regional Police together with subordinate police stations, aimed at maintaining security and order directly through the presence of police personnel among the community,” said the Kepulauan Seribu Police Chief, AKBP Argadija Putra, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Argadija stated that this programme also serves as a medium to listen to aspirations, gather information, and provide a sense of security to the community and users of maritime transport services in the Thousand Islands region.
He explained that during field implementation, personnel conduct dialogue-based patrols and visit coastal communities, fishermen, ship operators, and tourists located in the waters area. Additionally, officers convey security messages and encourage the public to play an active role in maintaining environmental security and to immediately report any security disturbances via the National Police emergency service, 110.
The Kepulauan Seribu Police Chief noted that this activity is a tangible form of the National Police’s presence in maintaining the security of the maritime and island regions, while simultaneously anticipating various potential security disturbances.
“We are present directly in the field to ensure the situation remains safe and conducive,” said the 2006 Police Academy graduate.
According to him, the On The Spot Patrol is a preventative measure against various potential crimes or security disturbances that could disrupt the activities of residents and tourists. Argadija added that the Kepulauan Seribu Police, along with subordinate police sectors, also routinely conduct night patrols within the Thousand Islands jurisdiction. This serves as a preventive step to anticipate street crime, maintain environmental security, and create a sense of safety for the community.
“We hope the Jaga Jakarta On The Spot programme ensures the region remains guarded, the community feels protected, and tourism activities and the economy can proceed safely and smoothly,” he concluded.
