Kepulauan Seribu has its own police station

JAKARTA: To better monitor the many islands off the coast of the capital, Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani launched on Wednesday a new police precinct in the Kepulauan Seribu regency.

Spokesman Sr. Comr. I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana said that the precinct would have more personnel and equipment.

"Previously, the Seribu Island precinct depended on the North Jakarta Police precinct. Whenever they have problems they would coordinate with North Jakarta. Now, they are directly answerable to the Jakarta Police Headquarters," he said.

The police station is located on Pramuka isle, the center of activities in the regency.

Firman installed Adj. Sr. Comr. Boy Ramli as the chief of the police precinct. -- JP
