Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Kepulauan Seribu Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture Department (KPKP) has provided training to residents in Pulau Pari, Pulau Panggang, and Pulau Harapan on fish processing methods through the ‘2026 Fishery Product Processing Diversification Technical Guidance’.

“Diversification presents an opportunity for entrepreneurs to create new products while simultaneously expanding their markets,” said the Acting Head of the Kepulauan Seribu KPKP Department, Andi Dala Jemma, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

It is hoped that this training will open opportunities to increase knowledge and expertise in implementing product diversification.

According to him, fishery products do not have to be limited to fried fish. These raw materials can be developed into various products that possess unique characteristics and higher selling value.

“We have tried one of the sambal varieties processed by a group in Pulau Pari, and the taste is excellent. This can serve as a menu attraction while increasing market value,” said Andi.

He expressed hope that the skills acquired by participants during the technical guidance could be applied and developed to strengthen their existing businesses.

“There are 20 participants from each area, consisting of members of the Fishery Product Processing and Marketing Groups (Poklahsar) as well as local entrepreneurs,” he added.

Product development is a crucial element in increasing competitiveness, particularly in capturing market opportunities from tourists visiting the Kepulauan Seribu.
