Kepri Provincial Government: President to Sacrifice Eight Cows This Year

Tanjungpinang (ANTARA) - The Riau Islands Provincial Government (Pemprov Kepri) has stated that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will sacrifice eight cows for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE in the region. “The President’s donated cows have begun to be distributed to all regencies and cities across Kepri,” said Head of the Food Security, Agriculture, and Animal Health Office (DKP2KH) of Kepri, Rika Azmi, in Tanjungpinang on Saturday. Rika explained that the eight cows donated by President Prabowo are allocated to the seven regencies and cities in the area, with one cow each, and one additional cow specifically for the provincial level. The donated cows are of the Menthal and Limousin breeds, with an average weight of 900 kilograms to one tonne per animal. These cows were purchased directly from local breeders in the regencies and cities of Kepri, as designated by the Presidential Secretariat (Setpres). Furthermore, Rika stated that the sacrificial cows will be distributed to mosques designated by Setpres, then slaughtered, and the meat shared with surrounding residents during Eid al-Adha 2026. Rika added that this presidential cow donation is routinely provided every year to be distributed to residents in need, allowing them to enjoy sacrificial meat during the Eid al-Adha celebration. “We are accompanying and ensuring that the President’s sacrificial cows are safe and healthy, so that the sacrificial meat can be distributed fairly to the community,” Rika concluded.
