Kepri Provincial Government and Tourism Ministry Collaborate on Gurindam 12 Area Development

The Kepulauan Riau Provincial Government (Pemprov Kepri) and the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) are collaborating to develop the Gurindam 12 area in Tanjungpinang City through a cooperation agreement signed by both parties. Kepri Regional Secretary Misni stated that the cooperation includes the utilisation of 6,643 square metres of land to support the continued development of the Gurindam 12 area, which has been a strategic public space and urban icon in the provincial capital. “This cooperation represents synergy between the central and regional governments in accelerating the development of the Gurindam 12 area,” Misni said in Tanjungpinang on Saturday. Misni expressed hope that the agreement would serve as a foundation for Pemprov Kepri to carry out more integrated development of the Gurindam 12 area, thereby creating a public space that is orderly, safe, comfortable, clean, aesthetic, and representative. He noted that in the future, the area will be developed into a centre for productive community economic activity, an inclusive social interaction space, and an urban tourism destination reflecting Malay cultural identity and Kepri’s progress. “With this, the development of the Gurindam 12 area is expected to become a magnet for both domestic and international tourists,” Misni said. Meanwhile, Kemenpar Secretary Bayu Aji conveyed that the cooperation represents the central government’s commitment to supporting quality and sustainable tourism development in Kepri. According to him, synergy between central and regional governments is key to enhancing the competitiveness of tourist destinations while providing economic benefits to the community. “We see that Kepri has enormous potential to continue growing as a leading national and international destination, therefore strong collaboration must continue to be built to support the development of the regional tourism sector,” Bayu said. Bayu expressed hope that the land utilisation in the Gurindam 12 area would support better area development, thereby further strengthening the tourist appeal of Tanjungpinang City. Kemenpar is ready to continue synergising with Pemprov Kepri to realise sustainable and competitive tourism development.
