Keppel may build RI shipyard

JAKARTA: A Keppel Corp. unit may build a shipyard in Indonesia
as Southeast Asia's biggest oil producing nation opens up more
areas for exploration to boost oil and natural gas output,
executive director Choo Chiau Beng said.

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd. will consider the project
"provided there is enough work for the yard in the country", Choo
said in an e-mail, following an interview.

While "strengthening its presence in markets where its
shipyards are located, Keppel will also pursue offshore and
marine work in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian fields where
there's demand".

Keppel Offshore's Indonesian yard would provide ship repair
services and help build offshore exploration vessels and rig
equipment, Choo said. -- Bloomberg
