Kendari (ANTARA) - The Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) of the Kendari City Police Resort (Polresta), Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), has officially begun operations to serve 2,700 beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

Southeast Sulawesi Governor Andi Sumangerukka, when met in Kendari on Monday, stated that this SPPG, managed by the Indonesian National Police (Polri), aims to expand the distribution of the MBG programme to the community in the Land of the Anoa.

“From the several SPPGs I have seen in Sultra, this one meets the standards the most. The facilities are complete with equipment in accordance with the standards of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN),” said Andi Sumangerukka during the inauguration of the SPPG Polresta Kendari.

Andi Sumangerukka hopes that the presence of this 16th SPPG can accelerate the achievement of the beneficiary target in Sultra, set at 800,000 recipients.

“Currently, the realisation is around 600,000 recipients, so there is still a gap of about 200,000 beneficiaries that must be targeted immediately,” he said.

At the same location, the Head of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police (Kapolda) Inspector General of Police Didik Agung Widjanarko stated that the SPPG Polresta Kendari will serve students as well as educators. To maintain quality, they are implementing strict food inspection procedures.

“Every meal to be distributed must undergo a food test to ensure its suitability and nutritional content,” said Didik Widjanarko.

He mentioned that there are currently 16 SPPGs managed by Polda Sultra, with details: 13 units fully operational distributing MBG, two units in the preparation stage, and one unit in a remote area undergoing accelerated construction.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of the Regional SPPG Sultra, Maharany Puspaningrum, explained the distribution of operational Polri SPPGs covering the Polda Sultra area, Polresta Kendari, North Kolaka Police Resort, East Kolaka, Kolaka, Konawe, North Konawe, and South Konawe.

“For island areas, it covers the Baubau Police Resort, Buton, Central Buton, North Buton, and South Buton. Meanwhile, one unit in West Muna managed by the Muna Police Resort is still under construction,” she added.
