Kendari Police nab two ships

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: Personnel from the Water Police section of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Police seized on Friday two ships in Saponda waters, in Konawe regency here, for carrying eight tons of various explosive materials.

Water Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Sistomo said that 12 crew members of the two ships were held after the arrest, but the owners of the ships were still at large.

Among the explosive materials were compressors, fertilizer, rolls of tin, empty jerrycans and various other materials that police suspected would be used to make bombs. -- JP
