Kemkomdigi restores North Sulawesi telecommunications within 24 hours post-earthquake

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has ensured that all telecommunications services in North Sulawesi have been restored 100 per cent within less than 24 hours following the magnitude 7.6 earthquake that occurred on Thursday (2/4) at 05.48 WIB, located 129 kilometres south-east of Bitung.

Based on an official broadcast received in Jakarta on Friday, out of a total of 2,236 sites in the affected area, 223 sites or approximately 9.97 per cent experienced disruptions. All have now returned to normal operation based on the latest monitoring on Friday morning at 05.17 WIB.

The previous network disruptions were caused by interruptions in electricity supply. Operators accelerated recovery by using generators as an alternative power source until electricity stabilised.

All operators, namely Telkomsel, XLSmart, and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, have confirmed that no sites remain affected.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital assures that all digital infrastructure remains reliable to support public safety and communication needs.
