Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has successfully managed 4.1 million pieces of gambling content and, on Thursday in Jakarta, launched the third round of the ‘Gebuk Judol’ (Gerakan Bareng Ungkap Judi Online) programme.

The Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, stated that the programme is part of a collective effort to increase public awareness regarding the risks of online gambling and to encourage community participation in its eradication. This comes amidst government efforts to continuously block access to gambling content while narrowing the operational space for perpetrators who constantly seek new ways to reach the public.

“Once again, this is not an achievement, but a progress report that we need to convey. The figure should ideally be higher than this,” Meutya said via an official statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

The programme, which is a result of collaboration between Kemkomdigi, Universitas Terbuka (UT), and Grab, expands upon the approach used in the previous two rounds by introducing digital security education alongside public reporting mechanisms.

This collaboration involves the government, industry, and educational institutions to broaden the reach of education regarding various risks in the digital space, including online gambling, online scams, social engineering, personal data misuse, and the misuse of financial services.

Digital security education materials are also being distributed through skill development platforms for driver partners and business partners.

Throughout 2025, these platforms have been accessed by more than 1.15 million driver partners and have supported capacity-building programmes, including expanded access to higher education scholarships for driver and business partners at Universitas Terbuka.

Of the 4.1 million gambling content pieces handled by the government, 3.6 million consist of websites and IP addresses that can be blocked. However, enforcement faces challenges as gambling content continues to emerge through websites, accounts, and various other digital channels.

Therefore, efforts to eradicate online gambling cannot rely solely on blocking access and taking action against perpetrators; they must be accompanied by public education.

This is one of the primary reasons for the launch of the ‘Gebuk Judol’ programme, which encourages the public to recognise risks, protect themselves, and play an active role in reporting content or activities suspected of being gambling-related.

The Minister of Communication and Digital invited the public, including driver partners, MSME actors, students, and communities, to report gambling content through official government channels.

“Those affected could be ourselves, our families, our children, or our parents. It affects many people. It does not discriminate by age or social status,” Meutya said.
