Probolinggo (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs is monitoring the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas), including restrictions on screen time at the Integrated People’s School (SRT) 7 Probolinggo, East Java.

“If viewed from the teachers’ explanations, they have actually started to show commitment,” said Director of the Media Ecosystem at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Farida Dewi Maharani, at SRT 7 Probolinggo, East Java, on Friday.

According to her, this is evident from the scheduled rhythm of the child participants at SRT 7 from morning until night.

The children are also equipped with laptops registered with child accounts, allowing their digital activities to be monitored by teachers.

In addition, the children are restricted in using gadgets and receive supervision from teachers or caregivers.

“They are given access to gadgets in a very limited manner, and their commitment (teachers, caregivers) to accompany the children is also quite good,” said Farida Dewi Maharani.

She stated that children often access gadgets because they have no other activities and no one to supervise them.

PP Tunas is a regulation for child protection in the digital space that takes effect from 28 March 2026.

Digital platforms are not permitted to provide or accept requests for creating social media accounts from children under 16 years old. Digital platforms must also block or deactivate high-risk digital accounts belonging to children under 16 years old.

The aim of PP Tunas is to place the best interests of the child as the top priority and to create a safe and child-friendly digital space.
