Kemkomdigi Clarifies Documents for 700MHz and 2.6 GHz Spectrum Auction
The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has announced, as a measure of public transparency, that it has completed the document clarification stage for the auction of the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz frequency bands. This clarification process is crucial for determining the commitment of the auction participants, which are three telecommunications operators, to optimally utilise these frequency bands to deliver equitable internet access for the people of Indonesia. “We are fully committed to carrying out all stages of this selection by prioritising the principles of transparency, legal certainty, and accountability,” said Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid in Central Jakarta on Thursday. The government clarified the content of both documents to ensure all formal requirements were met and to verify the validity and conformity of the documents submitted by the selection participants. The government has completed the document clarification, and the evaluation results will soon be officially announced to the public via the Ministry of Communication and Digital’s website. The selection process is now entering the administrative evaluation stage, after which the results will be announced, revealing which participants have passed and which have not. Participants who pass will then be able to proceed to the next stage of the selection. This additional spectrum is expected to encourage mobile cellular network operators to accelerate infrastructure deployment, increase mobile broadband access speeds, and expand signal coverage to regions that have been left behind. “Through this transparent and accountable selection process, we want to ensure that the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands can be optimised to provide more equitable and high-quality internet access for all Indonesians, especially to boost digital economy productivity across various sectors,” Meutya concluded.
