Kemkomdigi: AITF enhances student competitiveness for the workforce
Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has stated that the Artificial Intelligence Talent Factory (AITF) programme serves as a platform to enhance the competitiveness of university students entering the workforce amidst the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Speaking at the first workshop of the Artificial Intelligence Talent Factory at the Faculty of Computer Science, Brawijaya University, in Malang, East Java, the Head of the Digital Talent Development Centre of BPSDM Kemkomdigi, Gunawan Hutagalung, noted that university graduates can no longer rely solely on academic transcripts and certifications. Instead, they must be equipped with the knowledge and ability to develop AI projects.
Participants in the AITF programme are continuously encouraged to improve their capabilities in initiating AI-based technological innovations, particularly to support the progress of government programmes.
“When they eventually enter the workforce to formulate strategies, policies, and conduct research, they will already be prepared,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science at Brawintaya University, Ir Tri Astoto Kurniawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM., stated that this current AITF session is the second batch being implemented and serves as a continuation of similar programmes planned for 2026.
The team from Brawijaya University has been assigned a case study regarding a monitoring system for ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ (People’s Schools) at the primary and junior high school levels, based on an AI system.
“It was mentioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs that this relates to supervision; the hope is that with this use case, monitoring can be assisted,” he said.
The system being designed will function to ease the tasks of dormitory wardens in monitoring students’ daily activities and will be integrated with CCTV within the school buildings.
If a student engages in activities that do not comply with regulations, the system can detect it and immediately notify the warden.
“During the discussion with the Head of the Development Centre, it was noted that psychological aspects must be considered, as the students are still at the primary and junior high school levels,” he added.
