Kemenko PMK urges families to optimise quality of interaction during Lebaran homecoming period
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Coordinating Affairs for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) has urged families to optimise the quality of their mutual interactions during the 2026 Lebaran homecoming period.
“The homecoming season strengthens family member interactions because parents are not burdened with work and children are not burdened with school time, allowing families to truly optimise their quality during this homecoming period,” said Woro Srihastuti Sulistyaningrum, Deputy for Family Quality Improvement and Population Coordination at Kemenko PMK, during a national socialisation of the “One Hour of Quality Time with Family” movement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Kemenko PMK is also working in cooperation with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) to campaign for family quality development during the Lebaran homecoming period.
The ministry continues to promote the One Hour of Quality Time with Family (Satu Jam KU) movement, which aims to restore the central role of the family in child-rearing and reduce the dominance of digital devices in children’s lives.
“Through the One Hour with Family movement, we are striving to integrate child protection efforts through a family and community approach. One incident that has deeply moved us is the death of a student in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which serves as a reminder that the community plays an important role. If the community is negligent, then the future of children is also at risk,” said Woro.
The One Hour KU movement also serves as a preventive social strategy in addressing digital disruption and as a foundation for building Indonesia’s superior human resources development.
