Kemenimipas eases access to decent housing for its staff

Jakarta — The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) is easing access for its staff to obtain decent housing through an affordable credit scheme. The programme is part of efforts to enhance employee welfare and to support the One Million Homes programme championed by President Prabowo Subianto. Minister Agus Andrianto said the ministry is building houses in several locations, including in the Casa de Prima housing estate in Cikarang Barat, West Java. The housing development involves several partners as co-operation, including PLN, the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, BRI and developers. Later, Imipas staff interested in owning a home through credit can register and meet all applicable administrative requirements. ‘Of course we will assess whether applicants already have credit; we must not have them take out a loan and have take-home pay drained entirely,’ Agus said at a press briefing. ‘BRI provides budget support for this project and offers a special flat rate of 7.5 percent,’ he added. Agus also hopes BRI will further reduce instalments if more Imipas staff express interest. He assured that the homes built are of high quality and safe for staff. With this facility, he hopes staff will be more enthusiastic in serving the people and the country.
