Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has assured that services for pilgrims will continue while taking into account the conditions and needs of the public following the earthquake that shook East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and surrounding areas.

“We are ensuring that services for Hajj pilgrims continue. At the same time, we are continuously monitoring developments in the situation caused by the earthquake in NTT and coordinating with relevant parties to ensure services can run properly according to conditions on the ground,” said Head of the General Bureau of Kemenhaj Slamet in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to Slamet, safety aspects and the condition of the public are the main considerations in the implementation of services.

If conditions in a particular area require technical adjustments to services, he said, Kemenhaj will take steps in accordance with the developing situation and coordinate with relevant agencies.

Slamet specifically highlighted the condition of two regional working units (satker) most severely affected by the earthquake, namely the Kemenhaj Office of Manggarai Regency and the Kemenhaj Office of Ende City.

Kemenhaj is giving special attention and preparing operational mitigation measures for both areas.

“We are ensuring that the safety of officers and pilgrims in these two areas is the top priority. For this reason, we are preparing a service adjustment scheme so that the needs of pilgrims in Manggarai and Ende remain well and safely handled,” said Slamet.

Slamet urged pilgrims and the public in the affected areas to remain calm and follow information conveyed through official government channels. The public was also asked not to easily believe or spread unverified information.

“If there are changes or adjustments to services due to conditions on the ground, information will be conveyed through official Kemenhaj channels. We invite the public to continue following official information and not be influenced by information whose truth cannot yet be confirmed,” said Slamet.
