Kemendikdasmen: School Principals Play Crucial Role in Realising 2026 Friendly SPMB
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has stated that school principals play an important role in realising the 2026 Friendly New Student Admission System (SPMB), thus ensuring every child gets the opportunity to access quality education. Director of School Principals, School Supervisors, and Education Personnel (KSPSTK) at Kemendikdasmen, Iwan Junaedi, urged school principals to play a greater role in the SPMB process, because the success of the SPMB is influenced by the role of the school principal. “The Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel encourages strengthening the role of school principals as the main actors who ensure the implementation of SPMB runs according to regulations,” Iwan said in a webinar entitled “The Role of School Principals in Bringing New Student Admission Services Closer through Friendly SPMB” in Jakarta on Thursday. He expressed hope that school principals act with integrity in managing SPMB at the school level and can help the community by opening access to information regarding SPMB. He added that the Friendly SPMB requires mutual cooperation, at the central government, regional government, and education unit levels. “So that every child obtains transparent, fair, inclusive, and non-discriminatory access to education,” Iwan said. At the same event, Setditjen for Early Childhood Education, Basic Education and Secondary Education at Kemendikdasmen, Vicky Veronika Aruran, added that SPMB is not just a school entrance selection process, but rather the gateway to every child’s future. “Therefore, the Friendly SPMB is present as a shared commitment to ensure new student admission services that are transparent, fair, inclusive, easy to understand, and able to provide good assistance,” said Vicky.
