Kemendikdasmen–Dekranas to prepare 8,730 young entrepreneurs through PKW 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Directorate of Courses and Training of the Ministry of Education, Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), together with the National Crafts Council (Dekranas), is preparing 8,730 young entrepreneurs through the Entrepreneurship Skills Education Programme (PKW) for 2026, aimed at strengthening skills, independence and entrepreneurial spirit among the youth. Director of Courses and Training Kemendikdasmen Yaya Sutarya said that Work Skills Education (PKK) and Entrepreneurship Skills Education (PKW) are government priority programmes to prepare human resources (HR) who are ready to work and able to become entrepreneurs. “The Work Skills Education programme is prepared for students who do not attend school and school dropouts under 25 years old in order to have skills and work competencies. Currently there are 77 types of skills prepared through training institutions,” he said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday. He explained that the PKK programme has shown positive results with a job absorption success rate of around 85 percent. In addition, the department continues to strengthen the PKW programme which focuses on creating new entrepreneurs. This year, it aims to train 8,730 young entrepreneurs through the programme. According to Yaya, the PKW programme not only provides skills training, but also business capital and supporting facilities so that participants can immediately run their businesses after training is completed. “Participants are not only equipped with knowledge, but also given business support such as carts, equipment, up to business materials, in accordance with the field of skill studied,” he said. By 2025, he noted that 5,736 students had participated in the programme through this collaborative effort. For 2026, he mentioned that 458 students will receive PKW assistance through the collaboration of Kemendikdasmen with Dekranas and Dekranasda in 18 regencies/cities. Participants come from Dekranasda in Aceh Barat Regency, Pidie Regency, Sleman Regency, Jambi Province, Jambi City, Tasikmalaya Regency, Magelang Regency, Kudus Regency, Jepara Regency, Bojonegoro Regency, Jember Regency, Lamongan Regency, Alor Regency, Manggarai Barat Regency, Sumba Barat Regency, Padang City, Tanah Datar Regency, and Ogan Ilir Regency.
