The Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Sekjen Kemenag), Professor Kamaruddin Amin, emphasised that the launch of the artificial intelligence platform ‘Aiman & Aisha’ is not merely about introducing a new technological product, but a civilisational endeavour. This was stated by Kamaruddin at the Grand Launching ‘Aiman & Aisha’, titled When Faith Meets Technology, organised by Republika at the National Library in Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

He began his remarks by delivering greetings from the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, Prof Nasaruddin Umar, who was due to attend and had prepared a keynote speech but was unable to attend because he had to attend a cabinet meeting.

‘Thank you for your presence and I hope my participation does not diminish the significance of this very important gathering,’ Kamaruddin said. He also expressed the highest appreciation to Republika for the initiative to develop AI to enhance Islamic literacy that is moderate and soothing.

‘This moment is not merely the launch of a product or platform. It is the launch of a civilisational endeavour,’ he said.

According to him, the world today is entering a new phase of technological development. Distance is no longer measured in kilometres, but in the speed of signals. Knowledge is no longer stored only on library shelves, but interwoven in algorithms.

‘We are now witnessing the presence of artificial intelligence that is no longer merely a tool, but is beginning to become a thinking partner for humans,’ he said.
