Kemdiktisaintek Prepares Top Educators for SMA Unggul Garuda

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) is preparing the best educators for SMA Unggul Garuda through a workshop and intensive preparation held recently. Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Stella Christie, stated in Jakarta on Monday that SMA Unggul Garuda is a long-term national investment to prepare the best human resources who will lead Indonesia to become a developed nation. “Sekolah Garuda is the noble vision of the President. The key to Sekolah Garuda is you, the educators. I have hope and confidence that the educators who have passed this rigorous selection will produce future excellent leaders with global insight and local sensitivity,” she said. Wamen Stella added that the success of SMA Unggul Garuda is determined not only by quality facilities and curriculum, but especially by the quality of the educators who serve as role models for the students. Therefore, the government places the educator selection process as one of the most important stages in the development of these schools. Deputy Minister Fauzan reminded that superior education must be built on a balance between intellectual intelligence, mental health, and character maturity. “Superiority is not just about being healthy or smart, but must be locked with sanity. Sanity means having integrity, responsibility to the country, society, and family,” he said. Wamen Fauzan also stressed that the educators of SMA Unggul Garuda are currently in a strategic position as a selected group that will determine the culture and direction of the school’s development. Therefore, they are required to continuously learn, adapt, and become examples for students in facing various life challenges. The activity, attended by 54 educators from four SMA Unggul Garuda schools, took place over four days (29 June to 2 July 2026), discussing curriculum, school governance, boarding systems, character strengthening, and strategies for transitioning towards international education standards. This activity is an important part of the school’s operational preparation ahead of the new academic year. The briefing produced several important documents as the school’s operational foundation, including the Education Unit Curriculum, guidelines for the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS), boarding regulations, key performance indicators, Learning Management System (LMS) planning, and a transition strategy towards the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. In addition, participants also gained various references on global best practices in education, including strategies for improving students’ language and academic abilities, development of the Learning Management System (LMS), utilisation of e-libraries and e-journals, and strengthening college counsellor services to support graduates in continuing their education at the world’s top universities.
