Kemdiktisaintek Prepares Top Educators for SMA Unggul Garuda
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) is preparing the best educators for Garuda Excellence High School through workshops and intensive preparation held recently.
In a statement in Jakarta on Monday, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Stella Christie, emphasised that Garuda Excellence High School represents a long-term national investment to prepare the best human resources to transform Indonesia into an advanced nation.
“Garuda School is the President’s noble vision. The key to Garuda School is all of you, the educators. I have hope and confidence that the educators who have passed this rigorous selection process will produce superior future leaders possessing global insights and local sensitivity,” she said.
Deputy Minister Stella added that the success of Garuda Excellence High School is determined not only by high-quality facilities and curriculum but, most importantly, by the quality of the educators who serve as role models for students. Consequently, the government has placed the educator selection process as one of the most critical stages in the school’s development.
Deputy Minister Fauzan reminded that excellent education must be built upon a balance of intellectual intelligence, mental health, and character maturity. “Excellence is not enough with just being healthy or just being smart; it must be anchored by sanity. Sanity means possessing integrity and responsibility to the state, society, and family,” he stated.
Deputy Minister Fauzan also emphasised that the educators of Garuda Excellence High School are currently in a strategic position as a selected group that will determine the culture and developmental direction of the school. Therefore, they are required to continuously learn, adapt, and serve as examples for students in facing various life challenges.
It is noted that the activity, attended by 54 educators from four Garuda Excellence High Schools, took place over four days (from 29 June to 2 July 2026), discussing curriculum, school governance, boarding systems, character strengthening, and strategies for transitioning towards international education standards. This activity is a vital part of the school’s operational preparations ahead of the new academic year.
This training produced several important documents as the foundation for school operations, including the School Unit Curriculum, School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) guides, dormitory regulations, key performance indicators, Learning Management System (LMS) planning, and the transition strategy towards the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
Additionally, participants gained various references for global educational best practices, including strategies for enhancing students’ language and academic abilities, the development of Learning Management Systems (LMS), the utilisation of e-libraries and e-journals, and the strengthening of college counsellor services to support graduates in pursuing education at the world’s top universities.
