Kemdiktisaintek: Investigation into Alleged Sexual Violence at Universitas Indonesia Still Ongoing
Jakarta – Khairul Munadi, the Director General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti) at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), said that the investigation into allegations of sexual violence at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia (FHUI) is continuing in accordance with applicable regulations.
In Jakarta, on Friday, Dirjen Dikti Khairul Munadi stressed that every allegation of sexual violence within higher education must be handled seriously, objectively, and with a focus on protecting and supporting the recovery of victims.
“We urge all parties not to draw conclusions before the investigation is completed. Let all stakeholders give space for the ongoing investigation so that it can proceed objectively, fairly, and with continued emphasis on protecting the victims,” he said.
Dirjen Khairul reiterated that the official stance of Kemdiktisaintek is to respect all ongoing investigations, conducted objectively, fairly, and in favour of protecting the victims in accordance with applicable regulations.
Khairul noted that to date the investigation into the alleged sexual violence within UI is ongoing and being carried out by the Task Force for Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (Satgas PPKPT).
Therefore, there has not yet been a final conclusion or a determination of the category of violations in the case.
He stressed coordination and monitoring with the university to ensure that every report of sexual violence in higher education is handled in line with the principles of justice, accountability, and a victim-centred approach.
