Kemdiktisaintek Appreciates Unhas's Commitment to Ensuring Students Continue Their Studies
Makassar (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) has expressed appreciation for Universitas Hasanuddin’s commitment to ensuring that students do not drop out due to financial issues. Special Staff to the Minister of Kemdiktisaintek, Ismail Hasani, in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Monday, stated that they trust the autonomy model (PTNBH) granted to Unhas through government regulations on its establishment, allowing Unhas to continuously seek strategies to address such problems. “We do not want students to drop out due to limitations. Unhas should always find ways and strategies to ensure that none of our students face financial difficulties,” he said, representing Kemdiktisaintek at the inauguration of Prof Jamaluddin Jompa (JJ) as Rector of Unhas for the 2026-2030 period at Baruga AP Pettarani, Unhas Tamalanrea, Makassar. As an autonomous campus, he said, Unhas has certainly proven its ability to collaborate and work with various sectors. This is important to prevent issues of students dropping out due to financial constraints. Unhas Rector Prof JJ, in his speech, reaffirmed his commitment in this second term to guarantee the costs for every student until they graduate. According to him, access to education must remain open to all students without exception, including the campus’s readiness to cover costs for students facing financial difficulties. Prof JJ assured that the campus will continue to strengthen various assistance schemes, including scholarships from various parties, both government and private.
