Kemdiktisaintek and Pertamina Collaborate to Strengthen Human Resources for Energy Security
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) together with Pertamina are opening up opportunities for collaboration to strengthen Human Resources (HR) in supporting the energy transition through the development of New and Renewable Energy (EBT).
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday, assessed that strengthening HR for the 100 Gigawatt (GW) Solar Power Plant (PLTS) Programme, the development of geothermal energy, and the development of vocational education to meet HR needs are important matters and constitute one of the government’s strategic programmes expected to support energy security, while simultaneously encouraging the growth of domestic industry.
“One of the programmes the government hopes for is accelerating the reduction of fuel oil (BBM) imports, especially for diesel power plants that still consume diesel. In line with the electrification policy, the need for PLTS generation will also increase. This is very strategic, and we hope this programme can also stimulate domestic industry and the economy. The more we can produce and generate ourselves, the better it will be,” said Mendiktisaintek Brian.
From the outset, he continued, Kemdiktisaintek was asked to prepare various studies as recommendation materials for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), PT PLN (Persero), Danantara, and other relevant stakeholders. In this regard, Kemdiktisaintek plays a role in providing input based on scientific studies, while the implementation of the programme remains the authority of the technical ministries.
“Kemdiktisaintek already has various studies on more integrated and sustainable waste management models, so the results of these studies can serve as input should there be opportunities for further development by interested parties,” said Mendiktisaintek Brian Yuliarto.
Meanwhile, Director of Business Transformation and Sustainability at PT Pertamina (Persero), Agung Wicaksono, conveyed a number of Pertamina’s initiatives in supporting the energy transition, including through the development of PLTS in the Dieselisation Programme, geothermal development, and the formulation of a vocational education concept as part of strengthening HR capacity in the energy sector.
