Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) is strengthening its synergy with the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) to support the implementation of national priority research, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto, particularly in the fields of energy and waste management.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday, emphasised that LPDP plays a strategic role in the national research ecosystem, especially in supporting government priority programmes.

“LPDP is one of the important pillars in the development of human resources and national research. We hope that the cooperation, which has been running well, can continue and be enhanced, particularly to support priority research programmes,” said the Mendiktisaintek.

This programme encompasses comprehensive studies from social, economic, to policy aspects, in addition to providing technical solutions that directly impact society.

Minister Brian also encouraged a decentralised and university-based research implementation model through collaboration with local governments and industry partners.

“This approach is expected to accelerate the implementation of solutions while strengthening the role of campuses as centres of innovation,” stated Mendiktisaintek Brian Yuliarto.

Both parties also discussed strengthening the integration between scholarship programmes and the national research agenda, including developing collaboration schemes with domestic and international universities. This includes optimising international programmes and utilising academic diaspora networks to support research activities.

“For priority programmes such as energy conversion and waste management, in principle, we are ready to support them. The sooner they are formulated, the better, and we are open to collaboration schemes, including co-funding with partners,” said Sudarto.
