Kemayoran's Pasar Jiung village fire contained after three-hour firefighting effort

A blaze engulfing a densely populated residential area in Pasar Jiung, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, was contained overnight on Monday (1 June 2026). According to a report from the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department (Gulkarmat), the fire was contained at 23:30 WIB, nearly three hours after the initial report. The report, issued early Tuesday (2 June 2026), stated that the alarm was received at 20:55 WIB, units arrived at 21:03 WIB, and the blaze was contained at 23:30 WIB, with semi-permanent homes affected. Firefighters continue cooling efforts to extinguish remaining embers and smoke.

Preliminary reports indicate the fire originated from an electrical short circuit in a house in RT 14, RW 04. Central Jakarta Fire Department data shows around 300 households and 500 people were affected, with eight residents taken to Hermina Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Bayu Meghantara, head of DKI Jakarta’s Fire and Rescue Department (Gulkarmat), said the first report was received at 20:55 WIB. Following the report, fire units from Kemayoran Sector III were immediately dispatched. Officers arrived at approximately 21:05 WIB and began firefighting to prevent the blaze spreading to nearby structures. By 00:37 WIB on Tuesday (2 June 2026), a total of 33 fire trucks and 165 personnel had been deployed.
