Klungkung Regent I Made Satria has confirmed that plans to construct a glass lift at Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida, Klungkung, Bali, have not resumed. He urged the public to remain calm and exercise caution when accessing information circulating on social media. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician reiterated that the viral social media information regarding the continuation of the glass lift project at Kelingking Beach was untrue. He even contacted Bali Governor Wayan Koster directly when news of the project’s continuation became a hot topic among netizens. ‘So the information about the continuation of the glass lift at Kelingking Beach is a hoax. I immediately contacted the governor at the time, and he said it was not true. The legal process is still ongoing in court,’ Satria explained to detikBali on Tuesday (30/6/2026). According to Satria, whatever the outcome of the legal process at the State Administrative Court (PTUN), the Klungkung Regency Government will certainly receive a report on the result and will inform the public. He therefore asked the public to remain calm and be wiser in accessing any information, especially false information. ‘We, the Klungkung Regency Government, ask the public to remain calm. Because this is a legal matter, please wait for the outcome,’ Satria requested. Previously, the discourse on building a glass lift on the cliffs of Kelingking Beach went viral and sparked anger among netizens. Most commented on the impact of the development and the state of infrastructure in the Nusa Penida area. Satria had also previously expressed his views regarding the presence of a glass lift at Kelingking Beach. He believed the construction could disrupt the natural beauty of Kelingking Beach in Bunga Mekar Village. It is known that the Glass Lift construction project at Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida, was permanently halted due to a number of violations, including spatial planning, environmental, and conservation permits. The Bali Provincial Government ordered the investor, PT Indonesia Kaishi Tourism Property Investment Development Group, to independently dismantle the entire glass lift structure within a maximum of six months. The case recently entered a new chapter with the investor filing a lawsuit at the Denpasar Administrative Court. The lawsuit is being processed. On Wednesday (24/6/2026), the panel of judges at the Denpasar Administrative Court conducted a local inspection at the mega project site.
