Kelapa Gading Resident Nasim Dipo Saved by JKN Programme During Emergency Stroke
The National Health Insurance (JKN) programme, managed by BPJS Kesehatan, has once again proven its crucial role as a social safety net for the community, particularly in facing unexpected medical emergencies. The tangible benefits of this strategic government programme were felt directly by the family of Nasim Dipo Sumarto (91), a resident of Kelapa Gading who required intensive care following a sudden stroke. His daughter, Sari (58), recounted that her father’s condition changed abruptly. Nasim experienced weakness on the right side of his body. When checked at home, his blood pressure was nearly 200 mmHg. Worried about his condition, Sari and her family immediately took her father to the hospital for treatment. For Sari, the existence of the JKN Programme provided peace of mind for her family, especially when facing unexpected situations. According to her, the administrative process went smoothly so that her father could be promptly treated by medical personnel without any obstacles. “Seeing my father’s condition, we immediately discussed it with the family. We were worried about his condition because the symptoms were quite serious. We finally decided to take father to Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital to get treatment as quickly as possible,” said Sari. Upon arrival at the Emergency Department, Nasim immediately received an examination and treatment from medical personnel. After undergoing a series of tests, the doctor stated that Nasim had suffered a stroke and required intensive care. Amid the administrative process, Sari discovered that her father’s BPJS Kesehatan membership status was not active. Even so, the hospital continued to provide services to Nasim while giving the family the opportunity to reactivate his BPJS Kesehatan membership. “Alhamdulillah, the hospital was very helpful. Father was treated first. Meanwhile, we were given time to arrange the reactivation of father’s BPJS Kesehatan membership status. The reactivation process went well so that father’s treatment could continue,” she explained. Sari assessed that the service her father received during treatment was very satisfactory. She noted there was no difference in treatment between BPJS Kesehatan participants and general patients. All medical staff, from administrative officers and doctors to therapists, provided friendly, professional, and attentive service. “Father was treated very well. All the medical staff served wholeheartedly. I feel very helped and certainly grateful to receive quality service,” she said. Sari urged the public, especially those not yet registered as JKN participants, to immediately obtain BPJS Kesehatan membership. According to her, no one can predict when someone will need health services. Illness can come at any time and to anyone. “I just want to remind everyone that it is best for all citizens to have BPJS Kesehatan. Because whenever you are sick or need health services, you don’t need to worry because you already have health insurance. Of course, the presence of BPJS Kesehatan helps the community get easy, fast, and quality health services,” concluded Sari.
