Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT Targeted to Begin Operations in September 2026

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo hopes that the inauguration of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route, which had previously faced delays, can take place in September 2026.

“I hope that the inauguration can hopefully be held this September,” Pramono stated when met in Central Jakarta on Friday (11/9).

According to him, the construction of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT is essentially complete. Several key aspects, such as signalling and railway systems, are ready for use. Furthermore, the areas beneath the LRT tracks have begun to be tidied up and will undergo greening processes. In addition to the readiness of the railway system, connectivity between the LRT and Transjakarta at several stations has also been prepared. This connectivity is expected to facilitate passengers transferring between modes of transport once the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT begins operations.

Pramono also mentioned that re-testing of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT has been conducted. From the results of these trials, the travel time from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai was recorded at approximately 28 minutes.

“As a result, overall re-testing was conducted yesterday, and the travel time from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai is 28 minutes,” he said.

Amidst the preparations for the operation of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route, the Jakarta Government will also continue the construction of the LRT line from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. Pramono stated that the construction of the subsequent 2.1-kilometre section can now commence. “I have also requested that the continued construction from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas, which is approximately 2 or 2.1 kilometres, can start now, and the budget is already available,” he explained.

The presence of this LRT is expected to build a public habit of using mass transportation. LRT Jakarta conducted its first operational trial for the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route on Thursday (10/9). The trial consisted of two round trips using two trainsets.

The planned operation of the Manggarai-Kelapa Gading LRT route strengthens the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) concept in the Summarecon area, integrating residential areas with mass transport. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has set a trial fare for the Velodrome-Manggarai LRT at Rp8,000 until the inauguration date to aid public socialisation.

Each station is also equipped with lifts, escalators, and stairs to support user mobility, including groups requiring easier access.
