JAKARTA — PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Jateng Petro Energi (Perseroda) (JPEN) to strengthen the reliability and quality of power supply to KEK Industropolis Batang.

The partnership also aims to develop renewable energy at the industrial estate zone. This collaboration forms part of efforts to strengthen energy infrastructure at the strategically important national industrial zone.

Director of PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang, A.A. Putu Ngurah Wirawan, stressed that the energy sector is a fundamental foundation for developing modern and sustainable industrial zones.

“Industrial zones cannot rely solely on land leasing. We are building a long-term business ecosystem through the management of utilities such as electricity, gas, and waste treatment as sources of recurring income. JPEN’s presence completes the readiness of reliable energy infrastructure for investors at KEK Industropolis Batang,” he said in a press statement.

According to him, strengthening the energy sector is part of the zone’s strategy to provide operational certainty, long-term cost efficiency, and sustainable industry standards for both national and global investors.

“We welcome this partnership with optimism. JPEN will prepare a blueprint for integrated energy development, including the provision of reliable and high-quality 24-hour electricity,” Wirawan stated.

The management plans to develop renewable energy investment of up to 180 MW based on new renewable sources, derived from solar panel power generation, wind power, and the potential of ocean wave energy.

He explained that this diversification of renewable energy sources is aimed at strengthening the stability of the zone’s electrical system whilst improving the competitiveness of Central Java’s industry towards a premium industrial estate standard oriented towards sustainability.

This model is designed as part of an integrated energy system that supports industry’s sustainable needs.

Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi affirmed that KEK Industropolis Batang represents an investment showcase for Central Java Province and is part of the National Strategic Project (PSN).

“The zone must have national and global competitiveness. Today’s investors seek certainty of supply and renewable energy. Central Java targets a renewable energy mix of 22 per cent, and the industrial zone must be at the forefront of implementing this,” he said.

The partnership between the KEK Industropolis Batang management and JPEN focuses on two main aspects: the reliability of uninterrupted 24-hour electricity supply for industrial tenants and the development of new and renewable energy as part of the zone’s transformation.

With the strengthening of reliable and sustainability-oriented energy infrastructure, KEK Industropolis Batang is directed to reinforce its position as a green industrial hub in Central Java whilst serving as a magnet for strategic investment in Indonesia.
