Indonesia designates the Educational, Technology, and International Health Special Economic Zone (KEK ETKI) Banten, or D-HUB SEZ, as a new engine of economic growth in the Jakarta Metropolitan Area. Located in BSD City, the 60-hectare zone concentrates on four strategic sectors: education, technology, creative industries, and health.
Lindawaty Chandra, Head of the KEK ETKI Banten Development and Management Agency (BUPP KEK ETKI Banten), stated that the introduction of the zone aims to build a superior human resources pool and create an integrated and sustainable ecosystem. The strategy forms part of Indonesia’s broader vision towards a knowledge-based economy.
One of KEK ETKI Banten’s main selling points is its location within the mega township of BSD City. The zone benefits from high accessibility via toll roads, the Commuter Line (KRL), and various public transport modes such as BSD Shuttle Bus and TransJakarta.
In terms of the market, the area is surrounded by around 2.2 million residents within a 10-kilometre radius. Population growth in the area is projected to reach 4.5 million over the next three decades, giving substantial market potential for investors and service providers within KEK.
