Kediri Regency Government Prepares Hotel Site for Hajj Pilgrims

The Kediri Regency Government in East Java is preparing land for a planned hotel site for Hajj pilgrims, following plans for Dhoho Airport to be utilised as a location to support the development of Hajj services. Kediri Regent Hanindhito Himawan Pramana stated that the construction plan for the Hajj hotel needs to be prepared carefully, given that the facility is planned to be the first of its kind in Indonesia. “We must also think about the off-season so it is not just a building standing to serve the Hajj season. Once the Hajj season is over, it must still be useful,” he said in Kediri on Tuesday. While inspecting the land planned as the location for the Hajj hotel in Kalipang Village, Grogol District, Kediri Regency, the Regent emphasised that the hotel is expected to have sustainable benefits so it can be used for various activities outside the Hajj pilgrimage period. According to him, the focus on planning is very important. Therefore, planning must not only focus on the needs during the Hajj season but must also consider the utilisation of the building outside the Hajj season. In accordance with the plan, the regency government is preparing a specific plot of land not far from Dhoho Airport in Kediri. This location is one of the sites prepared to support the development plan for Hajj embarkation services in the southern part of East Java. “The land area is 55,000 square metres. If later approved by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, it will be turned into a Hajj hotel,” said the Regent. During the inspection, the Kediri Regent was accompanied by representatives from the Kediri Regency Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, PT Surya Dhoho Investama, and the National Land Agency. To view the overall condition of the land, Regent Hanindhito also conducted monitoring using an unmanned aerial vehicle or drone. From the inspection results, there were several points noted, especially regarding the readiness of supporting infrastructure around the site. Previously, in a coordination meeting discussing the technical and operational readiness of the Hajj embarkation at the Sukolilo Hajj Dormitory on 1 July 2026, Dhoho Airport was mentioned as one of the options to serve the departure of Hajj pilgrims. Dhoho Airport, located in Kediri Regency, is considered to have the potential to become a departure centre for Hajj pilgrims from around 10 to 12 regencies/cities in the Mataraman region.
