Kediri Regency Government Prepares Hotel Site for Hajj Pilgrims
Kediri (ANTARA) - The Kediri Regency Government in East Java has prepared land for a planned hotel for prospective hajj pilgrims, following plans for Dhoho Airport to be utilised to support the development of hajj services.
Kediri Regent Hanindhito Himawan Pramana said the plan to build the hajj hotel must be carefully prepared, as the facility is planned to be the first of its kind in Indonesia.
“We must also think about its use outside the hajj season, so it is not merely a building that stands to serve the hajj season. Once the hajj season ends, it must remain useful,” he said in Kediri on Tuesday.
While inspecting the land planned as the site for the hajj hotel in Kalipang Village, Grogol Subdistrict, Kediri Regency, the Regent affirmed that the hotel is expected to provide sustainable benefits so that it can be used for various activities outside the hajj pilgrimage period.
According to him, the focus on planning is extremely important. Therefore, the planning must not only focus on needs during the hajj season, but must also consider the building’s use outside the season.
In line with the plan, the regency government has prepared a dedicated site not far from Dhoho Airport in Kediri. The location is one of those prepared to support the planned development of hajj embarkation services in the southern part of East Java.
“The land is 55,000 square metres. If it is later approved by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, it will be turned into a hajj hotel,” the Regent said.
He also affirmed that the hajj hotel is expected to provide sustainable benefits so it can be used for various activities outside the hajj pilgrimage period.
During the inspection, the Kediri Regent was accompanied by representatives of the Kediri Regency Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, PT Surya Dhoho Investama, and the National Land Agency (BPN).
To assess the condition of the land comprehensively, Regent Hanindhito also carried out monitoring using an unmanned aerial vehicle, or drone. The inspection revealed several points to note, particularly regarding the readiness of supporting infrastructure around the site.
Previously, at a coordination meeting discussing the technical and operational readiness of hajj embarkation at the Sukolilo Hajj Dormitory on 1 July 2026, Dhoho Airport was named as one of the options for serving the departure of prospective hajj pilgrims.
Dhoho Airport, located in Kediri Regency, is considered to have the potential to become a departure hub for prospective hajj pilgrims from around 10 to 12 regencies and cities in the Mataraman region.
