Kebon Talo TPST in Mataram to Begin Construction in June 2026 with Rp 97 Billion Budget

The construction of the Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST) Kebon Talo in Ampenan sub-district, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is planned to begin in June 2026. The administrative processes and project tender are expected to be completed by the end of May.

“The information is that it is currently in the tender process. The tender will be completed around 29 May, and construction will start on 9 June 2026,” said the Head of the Mataram Environmental Agency (DLH), Nizar Denny Cahyadi, when interviewed on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

For information, the construction of TPST Kebon Talo is estimated to cost around Rp 97 billion. The TPST will be built on a plot of land of more than 1 hectare (Ha) and can accommodate around 100-120 tons of waste per day.

TPST Kebon Talo will feature Dry Jet technology facilities that allow household waste to be processed through drying and heating. The processed waste will become refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and sold to the Jeranjang Coal-Fired Power Plant (PLTU).

If TPST Kebon Talo officially operates, the disposal of Mataram residents’ waste to the Kebon Kongok landfill will decrease drastically. In addition to TPST Kebon Talo, Mataram residents’ waste processing is also supported by TPST Sandubaya.

“If we convert it, 60-70 tons at TPST Kebon Talo, then 45 tons at TPST Sandubaya. That means around 105 tons,” explained Nizar.

“At TPST Sandubaya, the incinerators can process 20 tons because we have two. Plus the dedoro compost, which can reduce at least 10 tons of organic waste,” stated Nizar.

It is known that the total waste production from Mataram residents per day reaches 250 tons. The Mataram City Government can cut around 100 tons of waste from the total daily production with the existence of TPST Sandubaya and TPST Kebon Talo. “The remaining around 100 tons can still be disposed of at (the Kebon Kongok landfill),” clarified Nizar.
